I have to make an announcement in front of the whole school. I'm nervous!! Help!?!?

Question

Its a club announcement. I'm worried that I wont talk loud enough or that people won't be able to understand me or I will talk to fast or something. I don't want to be embarassed. I know its not that big a deal but I just get so nervous.

Practice saying what you are going to say a lot and very slowly. Also, when you're in front of everyone, try to focus on something at the back of the room so you aren't as focused on the people. If you can, have what you are saying on an index card for a little extra security. It won't look bad. People will just presume you wanted to make sure you didn't forget any of the information.

People naturally talk fast when they're nervous. Just focus on your annunciation, the movement of your tongue and lips, and don't think about anything but your delivery. Shut out the whole world except what you're doing. You'll be just fine.

Remember that more people are afraid of public speaking than death, and it's totally normal and okay to be nervous. Just get through it!

Staring at the back wall worked for me during speeches. Also having something to hold onto during the speech. Or u could just focus on one person and blur out the rest.

Take deep breaths and pace yourself. Imagine you are home, in your room, and speaking to your stuffed animals, not the whole school.

Also, you could try the whole imagine everyone else in their undies or something. Never tried it, but some say it works!
