I have cingular and if I delete my voice mail, at the end of my session, before I hang up, it gives me the option to review the messages I have deleted and I can still save them at that point. If I hang up, I can't get them anymore. I am not sure how any other carriers work, but once I have deleted my messages and hung up... they are gone!
