That is a distinction most people can not make. The differences are huge. Most people use God like he is Santa. Ask him for something and if you are good he will deliver. Not exactly what God is nor how he should be treated.
When we try to make God follow our will we are trying to make him like Santa and probably guilty of breaking the first or second commandment.. The point could be argued either way. Still it is obviously wrong.
If we follow God's will for us He will take us many places. Santa is only good for toys.

God created the universe and all living things and Santa is a made up fat guy who lives in the North pole and brings gifts.
