I don't really think the car is bad - it's basically an older Mercedes SLK. The SRT-6 model is really nice if you like performance. However, it's no secret that Mercedes reliability isn't what it used to be and Chrysler has never been a star in that area. Resale values are horrible - buy one used if you really want one.
You should be able to get a really good deal on one. My buddy who works for Daimler-Chrysler said that DC has about 50,000 Chryslers parked around Detroit in what they call their Sales Bank. He told me that about 6,000 of these are 2005 model Crossfires. DC was planning on getting rid of a lot of these by offering some pretty cheap employee leases. I don't know how successful this move has been.

I don't believe it was fully developed, and sort of a bas-tard child of a german sports coupe with americanization...it hasn't worked well in the past. If your planning on buying one, I would insist on a minimum of a 1/2 hour drive first, if not more.
But it may be well suited for a particular person. I know some of the things about my 92 benz may be an issue(like no cupholders), but then other things shine.
If it's a solid ride at a decent price, then go for it. LOT's of guys spout off at the mouth and in actuality know jack about automobiles. But they know how to buy spinners, or neon lights...

had one for 12 years, no room, no lumbar support, Engine is good, everything else on it sucks and 12 spark plugs 2 per cylinder, 4 cat converters front tires 18, rear 19....not a good cost effective car.

my buddy has one of those dcx employee leased ones. its a nice enough car but not at full price (cheap *** interior). if you can get a huge discount on it which shouldnt be hard its a good car. i also hear they have lots in the sales bank.
