As far as I know, false negatives are much more common than false positives...because the test is detecting the pregnancy hormone. If you had a positive result, I think that is probably more accurate. The negative result could be a defect with the test.

The one you took today could possibly be wrong. False negatives happen alot more than false positives, with my youngest son i took 6 different tests and 3 were neg and 3 were positive LOL and i was pregnant, SO i say you get a blood test done, usually if you call up your dr they can get you in right away with one, and it only takes about 24 hours or less to get back. Mine only took 1/2 hour, depends on when you get in and how busy the lab is. I say you do this asap then you will know for sure :) but like i said i took 6 with my youngest the first was positive and then a neg, then 2 pos and then the rest were neg LOL so it can happen!!!

Where you on any antibiotics when you took the first test? That is the only thing that i know of that causes a false positive pregnancy test. If not, pay more attention to the positive and go to the doctor and get a blood test done and that will give a 100% sure answer. Good luck!

sweetie sorry to say you may be having a miscarriage. But you wont start bleeding until the hcg levels fall below 5 which can take 4- 6 weeks.I just had a tubal oregnancy thet required surgery on 02/06/07 and even though the baby was removed along with my left tube, what was inside the uterus (the tissue and sac etc.) everything had to come down on it's own for me to have a period which i just got on 3/16/07, the Dr did a pregnancy test on 3/12/07 and that one came back neg so he told me then i should start in 5-7 days.hope this helps and good luck & best wishes

Several things can give either a false positive or negative. That is why they advise a blood test by your doctor. Lots of women miscarriage without knowing they were pregnant. The hormone levels denote how far along you are, and if they run one a few hours later, and it is decreasing then they know you miscarried. Tubal pregnancy could also explain. Better go to the doctor!
Good luck

This happened to me with both my pregnancies. And both times I was pregnant. I had test after test and even an examination off my doctor including my periods every month and everyone said i was not pregnant when in fact at 6 mths with the first and 5 mths with the second the docs found out i actually was? Confusing I know but stick with what your body's telling you and how you feel, like a sixth sense.

Were they the same brand?? Different pregnancy tests read different levels of hcg...some have a higher reading and the early tests read a much lower level of hcg.....Did you read the positive result within 10 mins time? If not it could have been an evaporation line....Best bet is to either re-test with first morning urine with a very early test or have a blood test done....Good Luck!

Postivie results usually don't lie. Try one of those digital early pregnancy tests - the ones that say "pregnant" or "not pregnant" AND use the first urine in the morning right after you wake up.

When I got pregnant I took five tests - :) - because I was so excited. Not all of them came out positive.

Good luck!

False negatives are pretty common but not false positives.
In your case you need to go see your doctor and have a blood test.

i'd examine including your physician or community hospital. some otc being pregnant exams are not as sturdy as some. that's depending on the detection of the HCG hormone. i'm no longer particular if that's your first being pregnant, yet you do experience dizzy and particularly exhausted in the initial degrees of being pregnant. about the time you discover out you're pregnant, your total body is going in an upheaval obviously. In my miscarriage, I did bleed, and it replaced into no longer some thing like a ordinary menstruation. you may note of the version. back, i'd double examine including your physician or bypass to a community hospital (the position i'm positioned, there's a well being branch that performs loose being pregnant exams and advises you on a thanks to get the finest care). sturdy success!!
