I agree no degree is required BUT I think you should be educated as to what your business needs really are. I don't think it would hurt to take some classes at a local community college on business or entrepreneurship to give you some pointers on the business side of your business.

No degree is required BUT education is. SBA estimates that 80% of new businesses fail because the owners are good at what they do (cutting hair, landscaping, etc.) but they lack basic knowledge on marketing, sales, cash flow, etc. One good place to pick up knowledge is SCORE - The Service Corp of Retired Executives. SCORE is affiliated with the SBA and is a nonprofit organization. They offer free consulting and low-cost workshops on small business topics. Please avail yourself of their servics. In addition, they can refer you to other places where you can take workshops or learn what you need to know. To find your local SCORE affiliate visit www.score.org. If you are intent on having a degree, and I think it is useful to have as a fall-back in case you ever have to leave your business, etc. There are some colleges that offer degrees in entrepreneurship. Whatever you do, research your plan, get help, and learn learn learn - the world of business changes rapidly and being a learner helps you stay on top!

You don't need any degree at all
For instance the new Peace Nobel Prize winner (MUHAMMAD YUNUS) got famous by his concept of micro-credit that is a resource used mainly by persons with little or no education but that are willing to start a business

There are lots of institutions worldwide willing to bet on this micro credit thing (just ask your local bank), so the only thing you need is your own will

You don't need a degree to start your own business. Many people didn't. They had a very good idea, and found a way to succeed.

You don't need a college degree to be able to start up your own business - you just need the money to hire someone to help you or the knowledge yourself to do it. There are plenty of resources out there that can answer your questions - I suggest you try the SBA first - (http://www.sba.gov/).
