You never simply can.First of all,graphics card vendors usually launch their graphics accelerators in two versions,one optimized for desktop systems and another for laptops.Its quite difficult to find spare graphics board for laptops ,coz they generally ships equipped with the laptop itself.But in desktop
systems,if you have a cutting edge motherboard,then you have the freedom to swap your graphics board anytime,anywhere.Take note of the fact that,graphics desgined for desktop would never fit in laptops.

laptop have normally integrated video card on the board from 32 to 256meg and some can share with ram(bad)
same for desktop but you can also have pci or agp.
so answer is no , cant be transfer
