4 yr ago you could not find anyone who was against this war. Even the people on YA!! that are speaking out now about it were actually at one point for this war.Their political party changed it's stance on the war and did a 180. This was merely to gain votes in the elections of '04. It didn't work so a smear the President campaign followed. Democrats jumped on board and now have become very hypocritical. What made you change your view of the war?

See how easy it is to generalize Dems.
You're not the only ones that can do it. Lets stop the smearing and get something accomplished here.

While many Democrats are honest regarding their opposition to the war, it can not be ignored that many Dem politicians have changed their position for - it would seem - reasons more to do with political expedience than principle.
Front and center must be John Kerry - a more obvious case of political pandering has not been seen in recent history.
More puzzling is the position of Mrs Clinton... she rants and rails about Bushs policies, then tells us her 'plan'...which is IDENTICAL to Bushs'.
Huh?????
Anyone who voted FOR the Iraq invasion and now wishes to spin that vote to mean something other than that, should be excluded from office by any serious, fair-minded voter.

You didn't look hard enough 4 years ago as there were millions of people against the war. Did you see only what you wanted to see? Once the Democrats in Congress figured out they had been taken for a ride by the Administration they realized that there were no WMD and that they had been lied to. That did not set well with them and so they began speaking out against the war.

Democrats are not the lemmings, it is just the opposite. It seems the Democrats are the ones questioning the war and other things done by the Bush Administration. If anyone were to be referred to as a lemming it would be those who continue to support the Administration after all the scandals and a war that has dragged on longer than WWII and still has no end in sight.

Not to imply that the Administration are Nazis but the following does seem to be true for this Administration:

Hermann Goering, second in command of the Third Reich and key founder of the Nazi Party said, "Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger".

Without an active and vocal opposition democracy doesn't work. If everyone agreed or was made to agree we might as well have a dictatorship.

I wasn't posting my views on the war back in 2003. If I had been it would be the same as today, why are we invading Iraq when there are so much more obvious targets, like the countries from which the terrorists came from. People are still clamoring about winning the war in Iraq when so many don't know what that means either.
I'm in favor of taking down terrorist training camps and facilities but that's not happening in Iraq, Our people are stuck in that country and can only engage Al Queda when they come over the borders. Worst of all we seem to be in a no win situation, we can't set deadlines but without them the Iraqi government seems content to let us babysit their freedom as long as we are willing to stay.
FYI: I'm republican, I didn't vote for Bush either time because I never believed he put this country's best interest above his own.
As for those (republicans and Democrats alike) that have revised their opinion based on new information I commend you, at least they aren't married to their mistakes and can move forward.

I'm not a Democrat, or a liberal, but my views changed on the war. I was in favor of this war, just like most people, back in '03. I do regret now being a lemming then. But, like 70% of this nation realizes now, we were sold a bill of goods. To me, your question makes little sense. Why would people want to gain votes in the opposite of what they once believed unless they had a reason to change their mind? There has to be a reason behind wanting to gain votes. The reason in the mid-terms was that the American people have had enough of the mismanagement of this war. The resentment felt by those who have realized that every "immediate threat" reason we were given for this war turned out to be bogus is palpable. The only people who qualify as lemmings these days are Bush Bots, but then you've seen that term applied to them often haven't you? Nice try, but it just doesn't work in the opposite direction.

Wrong.
I and many others were against the war long before it started, challenging the so-called "evidence" Bush and cronies were putting out to justify their attack. It was easy to see where this was leading, that he was building a bogus case to go there. And if you knew how to read, you'd find many democratic congressional members who said the same things. Yes, there were democrats, large numbes of them, who trusted that their president -- no matter what party he was -- wouldn't make up such outrageous lies, and believed him. They learned a hard lesson from the fact that he *did* lie outrageously to them.

You want lemmings? Look in the mirror...republicans who support every policy of this president, uncritically, without asking for facts or evidence. Enjoy your trip off the edge of the cliff...

Peace.

I was never for the war in Iraq.

Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.I wanted Bin Laden dead and Al Qaeda defeated, but for some reason Bush had no real interest in that.

And how is it hypocritical for someone to change their mind?
When it becomes obvious to someone that a thing is wrong,it would be hypocritical of them to continue supporting it.

That's crap. I was against this war from the beginning. There were protests all over the country denouncing the impending war in early 2003. Polls at the time showed that of the people who supported it, only half supported unilateral action by the US.

Wow! You are stupid and totally misinformed. Several Democrats voted against the war and spoke out like crazy against it. Unfortunately Bush ignored them all and did what he pleased anyway. There were protests everywhere and politicians lobbying everywhere trying to prevent the war from happening. Barack Obama, for one.

a swing and a miss, Junior. Four year ago there was a huge, national groundswell of anti war supporters - where you under a rock?

the only change in view that I have had about the disaster in Iraq is I now don't care about an exit strategy and I want an immediate pull out, with our troops on the next planes out of Baghdad

I guess you were asleep the last 4 years.

If you are gonna make sweeping statements like that....I will make one of my own.

This administration has NOT said one truthful thing about Iraq and this war EVER.
