I tell my boys that the week is meant for school work and that weekends are meant for playing if they maintain good grades and not get in trouble. There are also or should be classes at the school that allow students to go for homework help and or tutoring in the morning, during lunch, and or after school. Education has changed since our earlier days and it has become a more demanding subject for our kids and this leaves very little time for parents or the children to relax.

Ask your child's teacher about extra activities at school that will help your child in her daily home-work and web-sites that will aid in her subjects. There is no easy way to save time when it comes to school work and managing time is not an easy task unless your child is just gifted and can do things quickly. Right now all you can do is help her and guide her with examples. Sometimes you will just want to do the work for her in order to get it done quicker but then your child has learned nothing. My wife does that with my boys all the time and they have fallen so far behind, they can't think for themselves and instead of figuring it out they wait and expect the answers instead.

Sincerely,
SuperDave

I taught 2nd grade for 10 years. I assigned homework Monday-Thursday. I always tried to stick to the rule: 10 minutes of homework per grade level (ie: 1st grade=10 min; 2nd =20 min; 3rd = 30 min...) I have discovered that many teachers do not follow a similar philosophy. With my son, as soon as he gets off the bus we look at the amount of homework he has. If it is very little, I let him play. If it is a lot, I tell him to choose 1 piece of homework to finish before playing. You have to remember that your child has been in a classroom for 7 hours and needs to run around or just relax. Also, when I assigned homework, I always gave my students a few minutes (5-10) to start in the classroom. That way, if they had any questions about what they were supposed to do I was still available to help. Ask your child's teacher if they are allowed to begin working in class. Good luck.

tell her she isnt doing something until eventually she finishes her homework. stay unsleeping as late because it takes and enable her have as many meltdowns as she needs to. whilst she is waiting, she would be able to return to you. and that i basically wanted to characteristic-that's the priority with various of youngsters now. mom and father bribe them to get issues achieved fairly than allowing them to understand there is a few thing predicted of them and that they are no longer owed something in return for it. So go forward and supply her candy and toys in the time of her existence to get her to do what she is meant to and whilst she gets older, she would be able to have no motivation to do something with herself until eventually she gets a prize or reward for it.

do all the hard work first, as the mind won't get worn out
complain like hell
think of it as "preperation for middle school life"
skip problems you're stuck on and go back later

How long does it take to do the homework? you didn't say. But then what time do you pick your child up?. It is too hard to answer without those questions answered.
