I recently ordered Arsenic and Old Lace, great play. I have a few more favorites which include A Mid Summernights Dream and The Crucible. One of my all time favorites is Fiddler on the Roof. Does anyone have any other recommendations as far as plays or screenplays?

Those are all plays I have either read or performed in. If you are as widespread as you read try Oliver!(musical), Little Women, Annie, A Christmas Carol(musical), Hairspray, Julius Caesar, Footloose, Romeo and Juliette, some things by Woody Allen are pretty entertaining(especially Death), and there are some sites listed below that can lead you to more; the third suggested site offers a whole list of fictional plays; seeming to be what you prefer. good luck

If you're into more brainy plays, check out Tom Stoppard, Richrad Greenberg, David Mamet (oo! cursing!) and Stephen Adly Giurgis. (<<
I'm a bit of an absurdist myself, so Samuel Beckett, Harold Pinter and Bertolt Brecht capture my fancy.

Just saw a high school rendition of "The Wiz". That is pretty cool. "Miss Firecracker Contest" is worth a look. Is was a play first but you can find it as a movie. I was in our local theater's production of "Arsenic..." as Aunt Martha and in "Miss Firecracker.." as Mac Sam (they were short on guys and I knew the lines). "Oliver", the "Mikado", and "HMS Pinafore" are also good possibilities.

Where are you performing it? Who would be your audience? What kind of talent do you have? Is it community, college, high school, or what?
