There were race riots in Benton Harbor, Michigan in 2003. It took 300 troopers from the Michigan State Police three nights to quell the senseless violence and looting.
The truly amazing part? Instead of clamping down and slapping a curfew on Benton Harbor, the Governor threw money at it in the form of grants to start programs to help the poor, disadvantaged minorities who rioted in the first place. *sigh*

I don't think violence is the preferred manner of getting a point across for most people. But the reality is that if you look back at the 60's, the riots and violence that occurred forced an examination of segregation, and forced the government's hand. So, in this rather huge example, it did help the cause of desegregation. Again, I don't advocate violence for any reason, but that comparison is just too obvious to ignore.

Well, now you are talking about their wrongs. So something is getting through instead of ignorant white bliss.
