Yes and no. I do not like the beatles and actually think they're a bit overrated. Their music is wonderful and I can admire their compositional exploration towards the end of their time together. And the best testimony to their brilliance is the fact that when it's all said and done, years have passed, half of the band is dead, and they haven't played together in many years....and we are still singing their music. It's timeless and amazing.

However, despite The Beatles being great musicians, they weren't the best performers. In other words, I'd much rather hear them than see them. When you think of great performers you think of artists with great stage presence or artists who you actually want to visually witness (i.e., Tina Turner, Angus Young (AC/DC), James Brown, Pete Townsend (The Who), etc.,). And I'd much rather see the Rolling Stones...and hear them too actually.

Although, their music may not have the same variety as the Beatles it certainly "rocks" harder and moves me more. I love Happy, and Beast of Burden. These are great and underrated songs. Not to mention the relatively new Rough Justice isn't so bad. And Mick sings better with age. Earlier he kinda sounded like a young whiney punk, but now he kinda sounds like an old black deacon leading a song in church.....in really tight pants. Just to see him (the elder statesman of frontmen) jumping, prancing, and dancing around and Keith all drugged & liquored-up and barely standing while he makes that guitar speak is amazing.

The Rolling Stones rule.

never theory i might supply a Thumbs Up for somebody asserting the Beatles yet I did on Michael's answer. Oh i do no longer supply thumbs down with the help of how, in the experience that your speaking Rock N' Roll you ought to bypass with the Stones the Beatles are a pop band never rather a rock band in case you hear to the very early song of the two bands you will see the transformations, and additionally the Stones have greater potential than the Beatles are a great band, and John is taken under consideration one of my favourite artist, he's well-known with the thank you to rock. So The Stones each and every of how. take care dave.

I am a street musician and find the most popular songs people like to hear are The Beatles songs I perform, more so than any other band or artists songs. I still enjoy listening to and performing their songs, as well as The Rolling Stones. Their songs have been around for so long now, they tend to grow on you, and bring back memories of my own life.
In case you too are a musician, you might be interested in a site where you can download The Beatles music sheets with lyrics and midi at http://download-sheet-music-online.com/beatles-tabs.html

I prefer the Rolling Stones to the Beatles, more of a funky, hard-edge tyepe of thing. :) I don't know many people that wouldn't like either of them, but most seem to prefer the Beatles, if only because they haven't bothered to listen to the Rolling Stones.
