I've just bought my first house in the North East of England. I need to furnish as cheaply as possible. Can anyone recommend any decent websites or shops where I can buy stuff. I need everything! Washing machine, TV, fridge, sofas, beds, lamp shades, carpets etc etc etc!!

ikea can be really good for cheap furniture that's still up to date. you're best to borrow a van or something tho if you're buying big things as they charge a fortune for delivery.

for carpets and things you can go to carpet warehouses and they usually sell off-cuts which you can buy for much cheaper than buying it off the roll.

also if you type "clearance" into google it brings up a currys website where they sell returns of fridges and washing machines and things that can be quite a bit cheaper than buying them new.

otherwise, keep an eye out in the private ads in the newspapers etc for second hand stuff.

good luck in your new house!

Have you looked in your local papers you will find some bargains.I live in the north East & buy the northern echo. You should go to wall to wall for carpets they sell cuts offs for next to nothing keep away from web sites.Look in argos also theres places that sell cheap beds. They are usually advertising in the paper.Good Luck

1. Check out www.craigslist.com and serach your locality....you can also post a want ad

2. Definitely check out close-out retailers, consignment stores and factory outlets...mark downs at at least 40% from the regular retail price...you can get bran new appliances at 40-50% off the regular price....

3. Yard sales and the like are always a good bet....

4. Tell every person you know what you are looking for....there is always someone looking to off-load stuff and they are glad just to give it away so long as you pay for the moving...

If I have been you i might shop the finding out to purchase close by, the delivery expenses are gonna kill you on those issues in case you purchase from the internet. examine the papers a week for storage revenues and supplies revenues. you will locate some extremely valuable stuff at those extremely low-fee. I supplied my first domicile with storage sale stuff and no person knew it yet me. maximum places have consignment shops and 2d hand shops too, they have some valuable upload-ons on your place. stable good fortune!

I've got a mahogany 6 seater dining table (good condition) waiting for new owner. Am about to advertise in my local supermarket. If you are interested let me know!

if its new stuff you want then Ikea or Argus but if you don't mind then look in your local paper in the "for sale" section, you could also ask friends and family to donate stuff.
Good luck and wishing you lots of happiness in your new home.
Peace
