I've just bought my first house in the North East of England. I need to furnish as cheaply as possible. Can anyone recommend any decent websites or shops where I can buy stuff. I need everything! Washing machine, TV, fridge, sofas, beds, lamp shades, carpets etc etc etc!!

we raid the goodwill stores, and the thrift stores. we also watch yard sales, and auctions in the area. plus, talk to friends and relatives, they rock sometimes!! remember, you can also refurnish for pretty cheap, too.

Wilkinson's are great for the finishing touches - lamps, loo roll holders, washing baskets, rugs etc.

Argos do some good deals on bedroom furniture sets. You can get a bed, wardrobe, bedside table and chest of drawers for about £250 - free delivery as well.

Ikea is fantastic too for cheap furniture. I got a small dining room table from there for £16 and the chairs were £13 each. I also got a great book case for £16 and shelves etc are a fiver.

Asda home section is great for kitchen stuff i.e pans, plates etc.

For the bigger purchases i.e. washing machine, fridge, sofa etc ebay is great. You can pick up some real bargains but beware, a lot of the stuff is collection only so you could end up needing to hire a van. You could also try your local Friday Ad paper which is great for this sort of stuff.

Good luck!

If I have been you i might save the finding out to purchase interior of sight, the delivery costs are gonna kill you on those issues in case you purchase from the internet. examine the papers a week for storage sales and sources sales. you will discover some rather great stuff at those rather much less costly. I provided my first domicile with storage sale stuff and no person knew it yet me. maximum places have consignment shops and 2nd hand shops too, they have some great upload-ons on your place. sturdy success!

Try your local auction house. My parents got my sister a Dyson for a tenner, and they have loads of other really cheap, quality goods at knock down prices.
