Yes when it come to keeping our self updated with or job which need gathering new information - that extra reading is relay boring - So
first forget that u are reading to learn - change ur attitude - u are reading as a hobby.
Determine ur self u will read at lest a part of the book every day ( say one page - or 10 page or will read the book for half hr) so how ever busy or tired u are you will do it .
Take the book to read when u are fresh - in good mood - ie not tied or bored.
If u feel sleepy or bored - 1. wash ur face 2. take a few steps 3 review the book 4. Try to comprehend what u read 5 Think the possible application

just to boost ur interest u can surf net -

You are reading book for ur self - so it is u who must ascertains that u need to complete the book - and understand the content and u are the one who is going to use it - so go a head
Best of luck

Read the pages from begining to end, avoid any extremely technical chapters and go back to those so you don't get bored and have some background on the topic. Before reading watch some videos pertaining to the subject prior to so you know what you are reading. Sometimes I would read 20 pages and only at the end realize I was day dreaming and had no idea what I read. Sit outside in a quiet shaded area on a sunshine day. Tell yourself you will leave when you cant see the words anymore.

Don't treat it as a chore more of a discovery. hence you could start by taking in the page which details the list of chapters and try to be excited by the array of subjects you are going to encounter when you start reading. Look at the index and note the words etc, then go to chapter one and note carefully the words of advice etc that the author gives in terms of how to use the book. If you want to read the thing fast I don't think you can, as you won't enjoy it as much. Sure the point may be not to enjoy but to get the thing over with as soon as poss, but you will recall more and grasp the subject better if you enjoy the learning in the process. Take notes as you go, and try and connect the main points from each chapter as you go, try and explain in laymans terms what the chapter is saying, posture is to sit at the correct height, proper chair at table with no distracting things on table, no radio on and no one walking past etc to bother you.

In the morning, when you wake up, sit down on a mattress after attending calls of nature. Then fold your tongue backward and touch the tongue tip with the upper mouth cavity, Then raise your eyeballs a little keeping the face straight. Close the eyes and count from 100 to 1 slowly at two seconds interval. If the eye balls come below during the counting, again raise them. When the counting is over, sit for another 5 minutes and watch the thoughts that come automatically from inside, then pray to God open the eyes and write down your feelings and the thoughts that came during the sitting, In the thouhts you will find solutions yo your problems. Do this every day in the morning. Spending 10 minutes in this way will save hours for you.

Obviously, you do not like reading the book, because you are dozing off on attempting to read it. Develop an interest in the subject. Or change the author. There may be some other author whose book on the same book could be more readable. Take advice from your Seniors.

Start with page 1. If you get tired, use abookmark and a take a break. Other than that, see if you can find someone to read it with and you can alternate reading paragraphs or chapters out loud.
