Okay, here's my list. Most of these are in Ohio, and some a bit of a drive, but worth it:

The flats area, Cleveland
COSI-Columbus
The Columbus Zoo
The Wright Air museum- Dayton
Hocking Hills-Logan
King's Island- Cincinnati

Chicago, New York, Pittsburgh, Washington D.C., Gatlinburg, Tenn., are all easy drives.

Niagara Falls, New York (outside of Buffalo) is about a 5 hour trip. Not a lot to do, but you should go for a day.
LM has a good list. I'd like to add Put-in-Bay.
