No, No, and absolutley not....unless of course you have discussed this with your Doctor, and they decide that the benefits of these medications outweigh the risks. I too suffer from migraines, however, as soon as i became pregnant, they suddenly stopped. This might happen for you too. (I certainly hope so!) Ask your doctor if it would be better for you to take benedryl in the event of a migraine attack, or Frova, a newer class of migraine medication that you take only when you are having a migraine. 150mg of effexor is quite high. If I were your Doctor, I would be tapering you off of that immediately.

I also have migraine. Doctors say that the expect decrease in the number and intensity of the migraine attacks during pregnancy. I do not know the exact reason but most probably because of hormones. This was true for me during my both pregnancies I had nearly no attacks. You should not take any medicines (if possible) especially within the first three months. After that you should ask your doctor for any medicine you might need to take. While we were trying to conceive my second son one night we went to the emergency because of my migraine. I told to the doctor that I might be pregnant. There was still time for my period. And the doctor only gave me two pills of paracetamol and they make me stay in the emergency till I was some more comfortable. But my son did not come that month just the month after.

So please ask your doctor for anything other than paracetamol.

Few medications are considered safe during pregnancy, and Effexor may be particularly dangerous. Motrin can cause miscarriages because it can cause bleeding. Whatever medications you take, the baby gets in much higher doses (based on the baby's very tiny weight). And don't forget the fetus is developing, particularly during the first two trimesters.

Talk to your obstetrician about this.

Effexor use during pregnancy is associated with far more miscarriages, major birth defects, and other problems. One study found the following:

"Among the 150 women who were exposed to (Effexor) venlafaxine during pregnancy, 125 had live births, 18 had spontaneous abortions and seven had therapeutic abortions; two of the babies born had major malformations.

There have not been enough studies done on its safety and it is a category "c" drug for pregnancy.

NEONATAL SIDE EFFECTS: Restlessness, hypertonia, jitteriness, irritability and poor feeding occurred in a neonate after maternal use of venlafaxine for depression during pregnancy. The diagnosis was confirmed by a temporary improvement after administration of a low dose (1 mg) of venlafaxine to the boy. The symptoms ceased after 8 days [6]."

As for zantac, isn't that a heartburn medication? what does that have to do with migraines.

I'm not sure, but that sounds like a lot. You should never take medicine, while pregnant, without consulting your doctor.

I would check with your dr. but I can tell you from experience, although NO medication is what may be best......... If you need the medicine, most dr.s will have you take your meds anyway. I have 2 children, and 1 on the way. Im 22 weeks. The dr. has gave me morphine injections with the last 2. And Im on meds also. Call him and see what he advises.

You will need to use something eles other then motrin in the last 6 weeks , as your dr. will advise you that it can increase bleeding.

DO NOT TAKE ANY MEDICATION without consulting your doctor!!!! some of the most minor medications can cause birth defects!!
I'm not familiar with any of those pills .. but PLEASE call your doctor before taking ANY!!!!
If you can't get ahold of your doctor immediately ... call your local Pharmacist.
They know which medications are classified as "A" (meaning they are ok to take while pregnant) or if they're classified as "B" (not safe while pregnant).

PLEASE don't take ANY medications until you call either the doctor or pharmacist.

good luck! God bless!

I am not sure about effexor or zantac, but I know you can't take motrin during pregnancy.

You can only take tylenol.

Look up effexor and zantac, and read the safety information for each one. They will often give it a rating from a to d.

Doesnt sound too good to me, ask your doctor, the only thing that I know that you can take while pregnant is tylenol. I have had really bad headaches the past couple weeks too, but most of the time I dont take anything unless I cant stand it anymore.

Definitely check with your ob/gyn. Motrin (ibuprofen) is not safe to take while pregnant. Tylenol was the only option that I was given with my two pregnancies. Definitely ask a professional before taking any of these medications. You could really hurt your unborn baby.

Well I know women aren't supposed to use motrin while pregnant...thats one on the big no no list! Zantac might be safe but maybe tums could do the trick for you too!!...plus they have calcium!

You really need to consult your Doc to find out what he or she feels is the best treatment for you and your little angel.
