My '84 Buick Riviera sometimes turns off on the road when I'm not accelerating (even when the car is moving). This happens mostly when the car has been parked for more than a day.

Thanks for any ideas.

The car's got a new battery and the ignition seems fine. The problem goes away once I drive it for a while but comes back when I park the car for some time.

my best guess, would have to be somewhere in electrical or drawn moisture. If it does it after it has set for a few days, that give it time for corrosion to start to form between electrical contacts that has drawn in moisture. be it in sensors or battery connections. after you get it started it takes a matter of time of it to ark through or loose contact. I would be looking for loose corroded connections as well as moisture in connections. start with areas like the battery, altenator, distributor and such. good luck and hope this helps.

Sounds like you have a bad ignition switch. If it's on the steering column, you can replace it without too much of a struggle. good luck---flog

it could be a dirty gas filter, cutting off the flow of gas.or maybe you got a bad ignition switch.iwould say the dirt settles in the filter and shuts off the flow.

Yup, sounds like a clogged fuel filter.
