I have an ipod video which is amazing...
I had a two hour train ride and I watched the Doctor Who special I missed last Christmas. You can also get other free video podcasts. YouTube does a best of video for free and you get a new video downloaded everyday.
Can't comment on the nano, but I would recommend the ipod video

iPods are great. I have a 30gb Video and my wife has an 8gb Nano. We have had no problems with ours at all. iTunes is regularly updated in order to iron out any problems!
I would say that pound for pound the 30gb Video is better value than the 8gb Nano, but the smaller 2gb and 4gb Nano is fantastic value for money. I bought my wife the 8gb Nano because she wanted a large capacity in a small size. Price was not an issue. I wanted all of the bells and whistles, but didn't need the 80gb capacity of its bigger brother. ( also too tight to spend the extra!)

I am on my second ipod now. I started a few years back with a blue 4gb ipod mini. These days I use a white ipod with video. Very easy to use, never once had to look at the manual. If blue is your colour then go for it.

The clolour is simply personal preference. Buy the largest memory you can afford - you will fill it up so quickly ! I think iPods are the greatest gadget ever invented - and believe me, I have bought quite a few others in my time

Good product. Crappy software.
My iTunes will sometimes randomly reject some of my videos which it has previously played fine for months.
It also rejects any video whose filename is too long.
Aside from stupid annoyances like this, the whole iPod+iTunes combination is pretty good.

They are crap.
The batteries degrade quickly, they are prone to software corruption and crashes. They will only sync to one library at a time and you cannot transfer media from iPod to computer.
The sound quality is sub par and they are more expensive than any other player of comparable size.
If you insist upon buying the product for the name, do yourself a favor and get the extended apple care pack on it.

My daughter has the video ipod and it is one of the best purchases we have ever made! I put songs, games, movies, t.v. shows and pictures on there for her and it keeps her busy all the time! LOVE IT!! :)

I don't need it.
I went into a showroom in London to try it.
I was not impressed at all with the sound quality. Not clear crisp enough.
