by impact and continued influance you gotta go with the Beatles. I'd also throw Led Zeppelin, the Who and Pink Floyd into the mix, and for sentimental reasons I always say Chicago even though they never get proper respect.

TooL sooo awesome they have never sold out they never were about image and you could get lost in their lyrics alone never mind the mood inspiring music and are just as awesome live in fact even more so
