What values would we store to represent each one, and how would digitization affect them

I would guess:
Time,
Weather and
Contour.

This does not include the biological life cycle. By "natural world" I am assuming that you mean "the planet," not life forms that happen to occupy it.

I don't know what you are expecting but one of the natural phenomena is day and night, that is light and dark. If we assign 1 to day and 0 to night, we can assign any fraction to the light level in between. So, how many bits we use to digitise depends upon the fine -ness of the grey levels needed.

Pl. confirm whether the above addresses what you had in mind, atleast partially and then we can explore the problem better together and with the help of other contributors.
