A "civilized democracy" does not engage in torture and does not define away torture [no lasting scars! no permanent fractures!]. Intelligent people realize that what is said under the duress of fear and pain is worthless.
This latest "confession" is largely, on its face, a sham - the guy is said to have confessed that he planned 9/11 "from A to Z." People in Arabic countries do not use our Latin letters....Further, the guy seems to have "confessed" to just about every terrorist operation of any note.
These authorities seem to have descended into the very abyss they are supposed to be protecting us from.
Comments in support of torture, here and elsewhere, are just raw calls for mob vengence and revenge, nothing more.

I'm not exactly sure what specific event you're referring to. But what I'm wondering is when a terrorist Nukes New York city are you the one who will go on national television and tell America that we could have found out about and stopped such a tragedy by torturing known terrorists, but that would have been "unethical" and "illegal" so instead millions of people had to die.
I area there must be some sort of guidelines and limits to the torture, but most of the International "laws" on torture were agreed upon 60 years ago when we were talking about dealing with soldiers in national armies not individuals who personally wish the destruction of everything the USA stands for.
The USA is a sovereign nation so we have the right to change what we agree to. In the case of terrorism there needs to be new international law developed to deal with this new and unique threat.

Maybe when this same "world court of justice" tries, convicts, and condemns OBL and all members of alQueerda.
"Men being harmed"??? You mean like when KSM used his "blessed right hand" to murder Daniel Pearl?
Oh - I thought the terrorists weren't muslim, because islam doesn't condone that kind of behavior and that islam was "hijacked" by extremists. So they AREN'T muslims when their actions cause islam to be questioned, but they ARE muslims when they cry "torture"??
That's a might convenient definition of muslim ya got there, Skippy.

"Yay, we put enough electricity in this man's balls to make him admit to 9/11, the JFK assassination, etc.."
How can anyone trust a confession when it's extracted by torture? Just because the detainees aren't Americans doesn't mean we can't treat them like human beings, with at least an iota of decency and dignity, rather than treating our enemies as they would treat us.

If my CHILD knew where a terrorist act would be taking place, I would want any nation to torture the hell out of him until he gave the info. If I would let it happen to my child I sure the heck would hope we did it to others who have that knowledge.

I guess when the Muslim Extremists learn to leave the USA alone. If they stuck to their cave, none of this would have happened.
