It's only been used for thousands of years...I think it's pretty safe! Unlike the medications of today that kill you after the government approves them for release!!

in general its fairly safe becasue 1) most herbs dont actually do anything, or 2) if they do have medicinal value they arent very strong.
but herbal medicine does have risks, and anybody who tells you it is 100% safe doesnt know what they are talking about. the herbs that do work follow the same rules that govern prescription drugs and thus cause side effects, adverse reactions, drug interactions, etc. colloidal silver (isnt exactly an herb) is one that really comes to mind as being both unsafe and ineffective.
and herbal medicine is not tested or studied to anywhere near the extent of Rx drugs

Herbal medicine can have side affects just like regular meds. Some have worked very well for me while others I have had allergic reactions to. Just remember that just because it is natural doesn't mean it is safe. Ex. poison ivy

Herbal remedies are generally safe. The real question you should be asking is........'How effective is herbal medicine?' I don't have an answer to that one.
