why do I feel so different from everyone else? last night at work for instance, we have this thing at break where we can give someone recognition if we see them doing something good, well anyway, I saw a girl cleaning up without being asked. so I said something and her and all of her friends started busting up laughing. I try and be nice to most everyone, I think I have lots of friends but then sometimes I feel like a big looser, Im pretty open about most things because I feel i have nothing to hide. If a good song comes on , yes I like to sing along, and if a thought crosses my mind yes, Ill say something. how do I become more like outher people? I dont want to be an embarrasment to my husband, children, family, and friends. how can I change please help me.

You CHOOSE how you feel about yourself.

You are describing what everyone goes through, especially at the workplace.

As far as your co-workers laughing, maybe they were noticing the same thing, maybe the laughing wasn't meant to humiliate, or maybe your co-workers are the losers. Sometimes people are projecting on people they view as happy. Some folks are just miserable (many located right where you work) and scorn anything positive. IGNORE THEM.

Maybe a little less with the singing along with music. This can be embarrassing for bystanders, unless your one of the Dixie Chicks, keep that habit for when your alone.

And, make sure when expressing those random thoughts, you have a point. An interesting point is even better.

Love your Husband, Family, Friends the best you can. These folks will tolerate slight imperfections if the effort is true.

Screw everyone else. There opinions do not matter.

Don't become like other people! Individuality makes the world a much more interesting place to live in. The girls that were laughing at you are obviously very immature and they have yet to find themselves. Don't worry about them at all. I think you sound like a really cool person. You may be a little too nice though. Do you feel like people walk all over you just because you'll put up with it? Please don't change to be like other people. You will I'm sure, embarrass your kids, doesn't every parent? You're kids will grow out of that stage too. When I was younger my parents humiliated me...now that I'm older, they are my best friends and we are goofy together.

Honey, don't change, just be yourself, if you feel that way its because you want people to like u, let them like you, have your own style. Your not a looser your cool, and keep on giving recognition people like to hear that they are doing something good. If they laugh you laugh to, I tell you I know what I'm telling you

You co-workers are very cynical but you must not wear your heart on your sleeve so much. Train yourself to refrain from giving an opinion especially if no one asked you first.
There is nothing wrong with keeping your thoughts to yourself.
If you must discuss stuff with anyone then find a compassionate soul who can act as a sounding board and go easy on the yakete yakete.

I strongly believe its the other people that are around you that need to change not you.
They need to be more grown up and mature.
Too bad there are people like that in the world but you will run into them all over the place.

good luck and be a natural not a clone

I don't see anything wrong with you either. You seem very nice, to me. Yes, I agree about a lot of the other people around you, though.

You are overly sensitive. You did a nice thing and the people around you acted very badly. Just ignore them; they are extremely rude and immature.

sounds like there is nothing wrong with you. don't give in to peer pressure, and continue being yourself.

You don't want to be like other people.
