I consider it to be safer than conventional medicine. ...but you still have to be careful because some herbs can cause serious problems if you take too much or if you have a medical condition which will be aggravated by the herb. For example...if you have high blood pressure you can't use any herbal medicine containing licorice. Herbal medicines will have warnings if they could possibly aggravate a medical condition.

I'm sure I'll get some thumbs down for this, but I don't really care. You want opinions, you got them =) Medication is medication, be it prescription or herbal. There are benefits to prescriptions because they are tested repeatedly to be approved for use where herbal medications are not. Does this mean that prescriptions are 100% safe? Nope. So does that mean herbal remedies are safe? Nope. Prescriptions come with side effects. So can natural remedies. For example, taking an herbal supplement for depression can be very dangerous without a doctor's consent because you may not be simply suffering from depression. If you suffer from bipolar disorder (manic episodes) you could be doing yourself more harm than good by taking an herbal supplement for depression. People often think just because it's natural it's safe. Plutonium is natural... is it safe? My best advice is to use common sense before taking any medication, be it prescription or natural. And always talk to your physician and do your own research. Taking prescription beta blockers can cause nasty side effects & even kill you. So can taking too much vitamin A. See my point? Good luck!

Herbal is natural that comes from environment. Since thousands of years when medicine was not available, people only use herbal to get rid of the illness.
Since, it comes from environment, it's no impact or side effect to the body as long as to use it accordingly
In other words, without medicine (chemistry) the sickness can be cured without any negative impact and saver.

ok ok ok. wow. stop! hold it! take my word for it, i KNOW. i'm in the herbal business & have been taking herbs forever. the answer is yes and no. herbs are completly safe and more effective than conventional medecine when given by a trained, certified, herbalist, and made by a quality company. like nature's sunshine. but no, not if it's given by some not-trained, uncertified person, made by a cheap, grocery store brand. and a trained specialist would never give you the wrong thing, or too much. check with a nature's sunshine distributor.

far more people die each year from prescription medicines than from herbal remedies. so by that measure they are safer. however you also need to look at success rates to determine which ones are more effective, and base your choice by weighing all the information you can gather.
