Kevin A: I beg to differ. You just e-mailed me a little while ago accusing me of supporting terrorists because I questioned your claim that the Iraqis are running their own security.

A lot of people think in terms of black & white, us and them, which is a shame because it leaves no room for dialogue, compromise, negotiation or change. Such thinking basically breeds hate.

So, they can get away with passing things like the Patriot Act and the Military Commissions Act of 2006. These were so called "essential tools" that they needed to fight terrorism, but the legislation violates the Constitution. How do we get it to pass Congress? Simple, those who were filibustering the Patriot Act were branded unpatriotic and supported the terrorists. And how many members in Congress voted against The Military Commissions Act because of this? Not very many because they were afraid of being branded the same way, unpatriotic and supporting the terrorists, before the midterm elections. These things have nothing to do with terrorism, rather expanding the governmental control to infringe upon our Constitutional rights using terrorism as an excuse to do it. Much like the War on Drugs or the War on Crime. It has even been used when criticizing newspapers, like the New York Times, for reporting on things like the illegal wiretapping. All of a sudden they were accused of leaking vital information to the enemy, thus supporting the enemy. Sure they were. More like doing their duty by reporting blatant violations like this of our Constitution, which is why we have a free press. With the Iraq conflict, if you support a timeline for withdrawl then you are supporting terrorists. If you want to with hold funding and direct it somewhere else, you are once again supporting terrorists. This is why they create this mind set. Because without it they would not get away with the things they are doing right now. They do it to get what they want so they can do what they want to do, and use it justify some of their actions.

I'm not a republican but I don't see them saying that anyone is supporting terrorism but I can see how some might think it. I've seen all too many liberals post things that sound just like the radical Muslims said it. It may have been to make a point or they may have posted it to piss off a con but the thing is it was posted. If a liberal is posting something just to piss off a con and says something they know isn't true then they are saying the same thing that a terrorist would say. Remember, they radical Muslims have no problem with lying. Arafat said "I would give my life for my country why wouldn't I lie for my country?"

If you allow this to continue then the repubs have recourse but to think you are supporting the terrorists and if you back the idiots that say these non-truths, then you are just as guilty as they are.

Throughout history every war has had 2 sides. Right or wrong depending on which side you stand. There is no grey area here. This war is a Coalition that is against terrorism. The two sides have been layed out. Support the Coalition, or support Terrorism. Only in a free society such as America do we make up grey matter. Remember though, your freedom was gained through war. That grey matter will be our downfall though as our enemy will use it against us. They already have. You and most were for this war at one time, but your party slowly turned against it for political reasons, and you have followed like a good sheep.

One of the respondents suggested it is because that is what they were told to think, which is a very good point. Those making this claim are not so stupid as to actually believe it. Their goal is to polarize society, and arouse animosity against anyone who opposes their policies.

I don't think they do.
However, when foolish people (Sean Penn and co) make ill-informed remarks - especislly outside the country - it is acceptable IMO, to point out that those kinds of anti-American remarks are used as fodder for our enemies.
That is simply a fact.
It adds to the tremendous tidal wave of anti-Bush and anti-American propoganda taht makes it so very hard for ANY president to make brave choices (and for all his faults, Bush has stood against the naysayers - he should be commended for that.)

They are narrow minded. I suppose they want everyone to wear the same color, same style and look like we were mass produced. No one should dare to have a thought of their own or disagree. Sorry too late. This country was founded on freedom of thought and speech.

Because there seem to be so many people who don't get it or just don't want to get it. There is no neutral position with terrorism. You either eradicate it or it destroys you. You don't reason with it, placate it or play Patti-cake with it. Islamic Fascism and it's goal of world domination is not a game ..........
