It shouldn't be a problem. A lot of people in Dubai will speak English. It gets a lot of tourists, so you should have no problems at all. The main language is Arabic, but I'm sure staff at hotels and popular tourist sites and information areas will speak English. The language of business in the world is English, and a lot of business goes on in Dubai, so foreign business people will speak English with businessmen in Dubai, as well. A large number of people living in Dubai are foreign workers from many countries. And I suspect that their working language is English.

Even though Arabic is the official language of Dubai, the business language is English, so everyone will understand you in shops or wherever you go. It's not uncommon to see a group at a cafe comprising an Indian, an Arab, an English person, and maybe two or three other nationalities, and they will all be speaking in English.

Of course Arabic is the regional language. But English is widely speaking in Dubai. Go ahead; anywhere you can communicate in English. No need for a translator.

Locals speak Arab but they are in a minority; majority of people in Dubai are from other countries, especially from South Asia and they all speak English, though not Queen's English!
