Who are the "people who say you can't emmigrate?" - U.S. immigration officials or your friends and family?
I know many people who are foreign nationals and green card holders living in the U.S. who came here as university students (through the regular university application process) or came here to work (obtained the job from overseas and then obtained H-1 work visa and came here). So those are the two major ways I know of moving to the U.S.
Also, as a citizen of the U.K. I would think it would be easier for you than most other immigrants to come to the U.S. If you're really desperate you could always apply for a traveler's visa (up to 6 months I think) and then just forget to catch your plane home. (If you're really desperate, that is).
As far as Canada goes, I think they are less strict than U.S. immigration. Some of the same people I know who are foreigners living in the U.S. have applied for a Canadian green card because it is much easier and faster to obtain. From my personal experience I have seen people in technology-related jobs get Canadian green cards very quickly (about 6 months from start to finish). Also, you could do some research about the immigration possibilities from the U.K. to Canada - as you may know the two countries are much closer politically with each other than the U.S. Maybe there are certain laws that could work in your favor because of this.
To get better answers I think you should describe your situation with a little more detail. Or call an immigration lawyer, international office, or a university recruiter (if you can attend school) to ask advice.

You can get into Canada, but you need to be coming to a job.

Find an employer willing to commit to hiring you, and then apply to immigration. Also, talk to the people at the Canadian Consulate to find out the best route to immigrating. They would have more info about the time it takes to get approval, if you're going with a job waiting, or if you have no job waiting.

GL and welcome, if they let you in :D

Be proud of who you are, and where you come from. The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. I would do anything to go back to MY HOME COUNTRY and live the life I once hated. Just stand tall, be proud of who you are the the foundations that make your heritage! Live and love. Good Luck

Firstly who has said you cant emigrate? If it's only your family and friends or associates then ignore them. If it's from the immigration dept then surely you can appeal or change things to enable the move?

Have you consulted the Canadian/ American embassy?

Here's a serious answer. I'm, glad they arent allowing you here. We have enough wierdo's already.

I think that an IQ test should be part of the visa process, if we keep accepting the stupidest people a country has to offer we'll ultimately be dumber than france.
