I did it last night. It's weird. The computer that my dsl modem and router are connected to can't get on the internet at all, but my laptop that connects wirelessly through the router works just fine. On my desktop it says I'm connected, but Firefox tells me it cannot load any pages. I continue to use my laptop on the internet with no problems, besides a slowness that I haven't been able to diagnose for the past few weeks.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance, my parents (the only ones that use the desktop) are angry at me cause they can't check their email now haha.

If you changed the desktop, just go reset the DHCP on the desktop. Control Panel, network connections, click on the adapter, click on Internet Connection (TCP/IP) click the dot that says use DHCP.

Once all that is done you should work again.

Provided you didnt mess with the router being a DHCP server. If you did then log back into the router and set it to DHCP for the LOCAL network. Leave the WAN alone!.

And slowness very few times is an IP issue it usually needs a router or modem reboot, (just unplug wait a minute and reconnect it)

First, reset your modem and router, by powering them both off for a full two minutes.
Then, since you "messed with your IP info", it may be necessary to go back to the settings you had before in order to get it to work. One simple way to do that, if you had XP, is to restore your computer to an earlier time. To do this, go to Start Programs
Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. Follow directions and select a date to restore your computer.
