Isn't that what they said about the Nazi's? Why are people so quick to throw in the towel?

It is possible but it is a long, slow arduous process. Many of today's people have a short attention span and want everyting to be over in a matter of months.

You will never be able to defeat terrorism with force .
In fact nothing force can accomplish accept submission .
The Germans and Japanese submitted to complete control from the allies and complete surrender was required by all people who had had enough .
When war becomes painful enough one side will capitulate to the demands of the other .
They will Surrender and accept the ways of the victor regardless of how they might feel about it .
This is now the time so called terrorists begin to appear .
A terrorist is simply someone who is willing to act on his belief's regardless of the outcome . When that belief is one fueled by religion the enormity and scope is off the scale .
To believe we can defeat 1 billion people world wide is insane and Bush needs his head examined .
At the very least if only 10% of Islamic followers (that would be 100 million people ) pose a problem that can not be solved with violence and force . Say I am wrong and only 1% are willing to follow the extremists views thats still 10 million people world wide . And if only 1% of them are willing to die thats 100,000 peple waiting for the opportunity and means to commit an act of terror .
So you tell me how violence can solve anything .
It is only by negotiation and peace we can solve anything or by the use of so much force that they surrender completely and are then controlled by a well armed police force .

This creates what we have in most of the world today . A well armed police and military force that governs the people .
The people are expected to work hard pay taxes and follow the rules .
This is not freedom but the illusion of freedom . So an enslaved group of people must conquer another enslaved group of people in order to have peace .
Crazy when you think about it .
The whole planet is full of delusional people who accept that their delusion is correct an yours is wrong .

This is the harm that religion brings to mankind and it needs to be abolished if we are ever to have peace .

Religion is the true origin of terrorists . Because delusion and lies are all that the people have to base a choice on and not freedom .

Terrorism is a pretty vague thing to declare a war against. Who are the enemy? There are American terrorists. There are christian terrorists. The Irish Republican Army used terrorist tactics. People who bomb and set fire to abortion clinics are terrorists. People who attack research facilities and try to destroy them because of animal testing or genetic manipulation at those facilities are terrorists. Lets say that you can kill off every single terrorist today. Tomorrow there is a brand new batch ready to go. There will never a be a victory in a war against terrorism. It would be a perpetual war. There is no offensive that can crush terrorism so that it does not have the ability to hurt anyone any more.

Fighting terrorists is one thing. I agree with that. However, calling it a war and using that war to revoke people's rights is not right.

It is not at all like the Nazis. That question shows your lack of history knowledge. Nazis were still identified by the country where they lived, and they did not try to hide. The terrorists are sneaky and always on the move. It's a different type of enemy. Also, I think we can defeat them, but not by engaging countries like Iraq in war. We need to be sneaky, too, and beat them at their own game.

One of the quickest way to defeat terrorism is stop giving the terrorists their fifteen minutes of fame on the TV everyday. As for the Nazi's, yes they were terrorists but they convinced the entire country of Germany that they were right about politics and they blamed their economic problems on the Jews. How sick is that?

Yes, and it is not something that you do in one day or two months or five years. I believe that the best way to combat terrorism is through education. To show those that are victims of terrorism that there is indeed a better way to live, and to give them hope and the willingness to combat those that would deny them democracy, dignity and human rights as a viable way of life.

I didn't say it was easy; I said it CAN be done.

By killing off some terrorists that will soon be replaced by others, we are not proving a single thing other than that we are the stronger bullies. By spreading the truth about democracy we stand a better chance against someone who may be brainwashed to strap bombs on his/her body. By showing them that they, too, can be heard and are an important part of society, and can make important contributions here and now.

The most effective way is to persuade them to our way of thinking by educating and encouraging democracy and fair treatment for all based on laws, as well as free education for all and not for the elite few or just one gender, and to show them how to cultivate their lands and conserve water and live with pride and independent of others. Hope and faith is not easy to kill... we must remember that and use it as our way to combat terrorists that rely on breaking the spirit of the people they would subjugate.

Yes it is, because your not talking about a nation, you are talking about any group that terrorizes a neighborhood, city, state or nation.
War on terrorism was an out for insurance companies, they had to pay for the twin towers, but now if they say it was caused by terrorism its free because they don't pay on acts of war.

It is impossible to win a war against an ideology. The "war on terror" is just a front for profiteering.

Well just like the war on drugs its impossible to forever stop any terroist event from happening again, however what we are trying to acomplish in the middle east is to show that someone will stand up against it and that even if it means spending our money, time, effort and young mens lives, we will not allow terrorism to get the better part of us. We will fight it and fight it and anyone caught in terrorist acts will be punished at all costs. And by we I mean republicans, democrats want to be their friends and commemorate themf or being freedom fighters agains the oppressive USA which is ironic since thats how they get their welfare checks.

The Nazis were all members of one group that were concentrated in a relatively small geographical area. The Muslim fundamentalists are members of various organizations who are spread throughout the world.
