thanks for this post. i totally agree with you... i would take durant before oden without hesitation. size is a rare commodity in the nba and some of the most dominating players have been big guys (e.g., shaq, hakeem, kareem, david robinson, the list goes on). for this reason, its easy to fall lovesick drunk silly for someone like oden who stands 7 feet tall and weighs in at 280. so why not pick oden? look at this stats - i'm not terribly impressed with 15 points and 9 rebounds per game, especially for a guy that big. also, did you know that one of his legs is significantly shorter than the other which is why he shoots his free throws goofy foot? now take durant who's game is as polished as carmelo's was in college. the kid's got handles, a crazy j, moves and quickness to get to the rim and creativity around the basket. want proof? how's 25 points, 11 boards, 2 blocks and 2 steals per game AND sweet percentages - 49% from the floor, 80% from the line AND 43% from three. for the gm who passes on durant to pick oden, remember bowie.

Depends on what you need, but here is a telling stat (no matter how great Durant will be). In the past 56 years, there have been 50 teams without Jordan. Of those 50 championships, only SIX won without a hall of fame (or future hall of fame) center. ONLY 6 OF 50. Oden #1.

Talent doesnt Decide order, Boston or mephis will pick first.
Both will need Big men Most likely durant will be picked up 2nd.Even through boston was fined for excessive contact doesnt mean durant will get drafted first. As a boston fan They would pick up oden as the only place to improve is center or shooting guard. Aslo oden will last longer as he is an freshman.(think Lebron vs Wade)

durant is twice the player oden is. oden has more of the NBA body but durant has the total package, ballhandling, shot, athleticism, he will be unstoppable on any level. 2 years from now, Oden will be good for about 10 points and 8 boards in the NBA, and durant will be good for about 25 points and 7-8 boards. durant no doubt

I would also take Durant, but this won't be a Bowie Jordan pick. Oden is solid and will give you some offense, but will be the defensive eraser for his NBA team.

oden has a bigger impact on the game.sure durant can score but that skinny body will get beat up in the nba. oden is not sam bowie more like bill russell. by the way where is texas at home watching i rest my case.

Well, he is good, but Oden is just so BIG and good. I think that i would pick Oden to come out on top, just because he plays a little rough sometimes and Durant would come out injured, he would come out on the floor.

durants not about to be jordan, but i see where you're coming from. it's a legit call right now, durant is clearly going to be an all star off the bat. oden needs a LOT of work, he cant move his feet, and relies on being 7'1" at a collegiate level to get his points. put him against 7' nba centers and he gets smoked.

It really depends on who gets the first pick, but I doubt that Oden will get picked with the first pick.
