Can anybody explain this to me about Antirust coating? I have bought Indica XETA in Jan 2007 and was thinking of doing this anticorrosive coating before monsoon arrives. The car dealer has quoted me Rs 2350/- for this.

a. How beneficiary is to have this coating done especially when I dont have personal garage and have to park in the open space?
b. Is the price quoted worth it? If not, then suggest some better trustworthy alternatives

Any help would be highly appreciated

Thanks

i own a shop and i get a lot of older cars in to work on ,and a lot of them have been coated with this stuff, and it works, the majority of the ones i see have not started rusting yet,and some are 20 years old or more, its worth what there wanting to do this in the long run,you could make it a few years without it, but it probably would start rusting out,and that destroys the value of anything once its rusted out no one would really want it,i have coated mine my self, and it works really well,so id have it done, good luck i hope this helps.

Nope... let it do what it is going to do...(the storm)

then When storm has passed... and you get a nice warm sunny day go to a good High pressure car wash and wash off the undercarrage and wheel wells engine compartment and etc.

with the soap setting and then the high pressure rinse setting...

what you're trying to get rid of fotr the most part is the moisture combined with the salt water....

salt water (Salt) in the moisture speeds up the rusting process rinsing away the salt even if non salty water hangs there a little will drastically slow the process...

key is get the car into warm and dry preferably sunny place to dry out all the moisture ASAP

P.S. The most effective Rust Preventative Coating was special paint and treatment processes used by the factory to coat a car either prior to application of paint (1978-1980 Dodge Aspens and Plymouth Volares) and Toyotas of say 76 and up used a + to - body charge in the primering and painting process to enhance the primer to body and primer to paint coat bonding process this made them less prone to rust out...

NoNoNo! This is one of the most useless, non-needed items you can purchase. All cars are now coated and pretty much rust proof from the factory. It does turn a good profit for the dealer though. You can check with Consumer Reports as they did have an article on this very thing.
Good Luck---flog

Please save your money! If your perspective auto manufacturer offered this as a viable option for your car they would offer it.
In 1969 car dealers offered this under coating in their dealerships. The cost was $400.00. I had a very good friend who worked at a Chevrolet car dealer shop who applied this coating and the cost to the dealer was less than $40.00 labor included to apply the coating.
The dealer offers it to you to pad his wallet to make a bigger profit margin.
Ask any body shop in town concerning it's worth. If moisture and salt gets trapped under the coating after age and shrinkage rust goes rampant. Your fender wells are plastic and the under carriage is very rust resistant to begin with.
Good luck no matter what decision.

Car body Care : Apply anti-rust coating specially on the underbody of the car and attend to all the scratches and dents on the surface of the paint immediately to prevent corrosion. Apply wax on the car body as it forms a protective layer increasing the life of the car.

Is underbody treatment really necessary? I read somewhere in an automotive magazine that these days the cars are treated with antirust treatments at the factory during the process of manufacture itself that rust is no longer a threat anymore. Talk to experts and avoid unnecessary expenditure.
