Yes, it is so.
If you want to get an idea of cut-throat competition take a trip to India, China or any other nation where there are just too many people and few opportunities. In India, the competition for placements in educational institutions is such that in a margin of 5 marks you will find thousands of students.

Competition seems to be the only way to select the best of the best, while the not-so-fortunate fall by the wayside. A classic example of 'survival of the fittest'. Competition seeks to push man to his limits.

I believe so. Without it, one person or company would have too much control and power. Competition helps us strive to be the best we can be. It also provides opportunities to explore the unknown. Each new invention provides more ideas and creates jobs. Being competitive is a sure necessity.

In a way, yes. But it depends on your mentality and your personality type. For some it is indeed a motivator, just like enemies can prove to be more useful than friends since they give you a reason to wake up in the morning. But for others it's annoying because it gives them the feeling that they are either being rushed or chased. It all depends on how you cope with it.

Competition can be a healthy motivator for a person with the right mentality,but overall it's not a part of my life.

no thats why i only exercise alone and find comfort in the fact that im only competeing with myself. no stress of competition. i get my needed stress from other aress in life.
