NO you don't need anything at all .UNLESS you are getting a loan from a bank for the bike then you will need to get insurance .but if you are paying cash for the bike then it's up to you..I had three bikes i bought cash from dealers..they were used trade-ins..but i had bikes for years before ever getting my license..YOU DON'T NEED A LICENSE TO BUY ANY TYPE OF VEHICLE..the only time you need a license is if you are driving it on the road.even at that ..i drove my bikes for a few years before getting my license .it was a chance i was taking. but i had insurance on my bike incase i would have hit someone and hurt them..

Many dealerships, due to liability issues, will require you to present a valid motorcycle license and proof of personal liability insurance before you ride away from the lot. This is especially true if you are arranging financing through the dealer. Even if you have a friend with a valid motorcycle license ride the bike home, the dealer will require you to show proof of insurance at the time the bike leaves the lot.

It only makes sense, if the person has a M endorsement, then they are legally able to ride a motorcycle on the street, and be insured. Why does it seem strange; would you sell alcohol to someone under the age of 21(Indiana). The endorsement also keeps the dealership from having liability problems. Imagine a dealership that allowed just anyone to buy a bike, HD or not, and letting that person ride it out of there, can you imagine the legal issues if the rider's first act is to pull out in front of a car, truck, another rider. Who would be at fault?

Check into your state's Insurance Requirements for Title Transfer.
Some state's require proof of insurance to transfer title.
Most insurance requires Valid License to issue a Liability policy.
Easiest to contact the dealership you plan to buy from,,or any in your area.

You do not need a license but you will need insurance. Probably just basic liability but if you get a loan for the bike, the bank might require that you carry full coverage.
Make sure you check your local laws on riding with a permit. You usually need to have a licensed operator with you and you cant ride at night.

No, as long as you have your permit you will be fine, all they will do is make you sign a waiver that states if you reck the bike, there not responsible for it or you. But you will definitely get to ride it home. If you don't want to hassle with the DMV Test, there's a class that you can take for about $200 that teaches you all the rights and wrongs about riding a motorcycle, its called the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, and when you pass they give you a certificate that lets you bypass the DMV Road Test. So if you have your permit now, and you take the class and pass, you automatically get your license. Hope all this helps...

Dealerships will sell you anything without you having a license or registration. It's not their job to enforce any motor vehicle laws.
They sell dirt bikes and quads. A street legal motorcycle is no different. Why would they care if you were going to ride it on the street, or up and down your driveway, or put it in your garage and disassemble the entire motor to practice repairing it?
Any water craft (jet skis, jet boats and wave runners) all need to be registered to legally ride in the ocean. Dealerships don't require you to get it registered before you take delivery.

No, a permit will do. That is, as long as your over the age of 18. You only need insurance if you plan on taking it and riding it off the lot, or if you finance it. I'm sure that if you are borrowing the money, the loan company will demand that you have insurance on it.
