And Brown's ploedge for more- despite them being massivley overly expensive?
Is he neglecting a fundamental cornerstone of British governance- providing tax-funded quality education? Is he negating government responsibilty for education and failing public school systems? Furthermore is corporate sponsorship in education a conflict of interest- not to mention pay for peers? What happened to all our tax dollars intended for government schools?

When are we building the gallows for this prize traitor? Blair needs to hang for this disgraceful mismanagement- it's corporate theft.

Mr Way is absolutely correct- I'm implying that successive governments have wilffully allowed government schools to deteriorate beyond redemption- there once was a time when government schools were the equal of private.

I don't think most people are adequately literate in issues of privatization, corporate hegemony, etc. else they'd look at education and medicare as public goods. We're seeing governments who are entrenching corporate power instead of representing people and democracy. I regard Blair as an ignoble person, and I doubt if the person succeeding him will be significantly better. Without proper vigilance from people what do you expect. Here in Canada we are pretty much in a similar situation. Sadly, the unions who are still in a position to contribute towards social and political literacy aren't doing much, too.

I wish we had more privatization here in the states. We are strongarmed into putting our children into substandard schools. Our tax dollars go to pay for this broken education system, (2/3 of our kids can't find their hometown on a globe.) If you make enough money, you can send your children to private school, but still you are taxed to pay for the public school. You end up paying twice. The public schools here are deplorable. There is absolutly no discipline. My sister just removed her son from his public school, two of the kids were in his class literrally throwing their own feces at each other during class. True story. This is what our classrooms have degenerated into.
If all the shools were privatized, the parents would have a choice. Schools would have to perform better to keep the money rolling in. I think we need to get rid of this notion of everyone has a right to an education while we are at it. If the kid is dumb, or won't behave, they are out. Some people are meant to be doctors, lawyers or astronauts, other people are meant to wash dishes and clean zoo cages for a living. Why should our kids be taught at the level of the dumbest kid in the room?

I love it. I've never heard of creeping privatisation before. And all this time time I thought the world was creeping toward socialism.
