in a novel that is similar to an autobiography, can the reader be the confidant of the novel? since the author is basically sharing his thoughts and feelings to the reader?

I guess you mean confidante and not confident. I'm not sure if the reader can keep the autobiographical story in confidence because it's out there for everyone to read and so that story can't really be kept in confidence. Of course this is just my opinion and I could be wrong but here's the definition

"1. A woman to whom secrets or private matters are disclosed.
2. A woman character in a drama or fiction, such as a trusted friend or servant, who serves as a device for revealing the inner thoughts or intentions of a main character."

I generally go with the #1 description and I don't think it applies to a reader of an autobiographical work. I'm trying to see outside of the box but I can't see that. LOL
