I've tried rubbing it off with just water, but it seems pretty stuck on there. I'm looking for a good way to get it off without damaging the boots.

I think the best thing would be to call a shoe repair place and see what they recommend. Suede is very tricky to clean. It stains easily and cleaners that can be used on leather will deteriorate suede.

You could try brushing them with a very very soft brush like a toothbrush. But that would be all I could recommend. There are so many grades of suede that what may work for one may not work for another.

I would try a specialty dry cleaners of leather and suede. A shoe repair shop may also be able to help.If you try something before hand they may not be able to correct the problem. Did you have the boots weatherproofed before wearing them?
