And I have so many friends who are so strong. I mean I don't want to be such a cry baby and wimp. I have tried so many times to hold it in, but that just makes it worst. How do I strong and not cry over such fake things? What do people think of when they see such sad things that make them not cry? I have tried thinking of happy thoughts and etc..doesn't work. And before I used to be very strong and then out of nowhere I became this emotional person. It's like I'm a totally different person....Please help....

You have a good point. Most people, myself included, will allow themselves to cry only if there is an emotional trauma or great loss. Otherwise, crying is verboten.

In your case, I think that you have experienced some underlying trauma that you are not allowing to come to the surface. You might be suppressing some negative episode that should be revealed and thus released as a source of emotional distress.

That trauma may be buried so deep that you can only express your pain indirectly, responding negatively to events that are completely unrelated to the original problem.

You know, it's not terrible to be emotional. I do the same thing. I cry if a sad movie comes on, or if there is a really sad song. I talked to my counselor about it, too. He said that having feelings is a gift, because you can reach things other people can't. You have the ability to change the world, so use it!

what's wrong with that? nothing.
be emotional. cry all you want is my advice. And, just a little toughness here, but if you're friends think you're a wimp and a crybaby - you might want to find some more caring friends.

Yes, some are wired to be strong personalities - tough eggs to crack...and some are wired to be more sensitive - not very tough to crack at all. It's what makes the world go 'round.
