Depending on the kids, you might consider making crystal radios. It involves some electrical work, there are opportunities to make it look beautiful, and it's hard to beat pulling free music from the airwaves without even using a battery.

Also, in a couple of decades, over-the-air AM broadcasting will probably be replaced by some form of digital broadcasting. When they are middle aged, they will be able to tell their own "I remember when" stories to their incredulous children.

How about knitting and crocheting (they are really hot this year even for boys!!!!)? You can find books for them at WalMart, Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Hancock Fabrics, Joanns, and many other places!!!

I hope you and the boys and girls have a great time.

For a girl, a good idea would be cross stitching. There is many different types, and stores like Walmart have sets for beginning stichers. You can even get iron on patterns.
