I hear questions about white, so-called snobbish, ignorant people,

Im am white, but I grew up in a latino community, Yeah there are suttle differences of culture, but fot the most part I believe that they are very SIMILAR cultures and that whites, in general, are not abrasive in any way toward that difference, but a lot of latinos shape thier attitude based on the difference ,
I think the close- knit latino types tend to look for racism left and right, and will complain when it's not even there,
Ill give you an example, I was working with this Domincan girl and I would talk spanish to her sometimes in a cute way, since Im white she took that as racist behavior, and would tell everyone I was a racist idiot,,, now that is so stupid to me, I think she is the one with the problem,, I really think the fact that I was so nice to her made her more angry and confudsed becuase now she had to rethink all her ignorance and predjudice, anyone with similar experienc

First I have to say that white is a color not a race.
Yes, there are plenty of snobbish, ignorant people out there and each and every group (Latino, Indian, African, European, Arab or Asian) takes the hit for the bad behavior of the few.
Speaking any language in a "cute way" is demeaning and disrespectful. Even if your intentions were otherwise.

I have worked with the public my entire life. I have been treated unfairly and like dirt beneath the feet of all races because of the jobs I have done....working for a national fast food chain as a Manager and working for a national retail store. Funny how people tend to look down upon the hardworking honest people that work to make sure you can buy that quick meal or buy your groceries & clothes at a reasonable price.

We should always treat people the way we would want to be treated with compassion and respect. What else really matters?

It's a stereotype.

Every race has stereotypes about everyone else, and everyone likes to cause trouble.

The problem with the world today is that everyone wants to start trouble. You can't be nice to a person or speak to a person in their native language without them thinking you're making fun of their culture.

The only thing you can do is be nice and be yourself with them. If they see the way you talk to them, and they still think you're a racist then their ignorance is too large to be able to do anything about it.

I've found that there is no sense getting frustrated about it because there are some people that are so ignorant that no matter what you say to them or how nice you are, they still think you're racist. it's funny because when you analyze it... it turns out that THEY are the racists because they are doing exactly what they are complaining that white people do to them.

Oh well, what can you do?

I said something about horrible white customers before, but I didn't think they were racist ... I thought they were mean spirited , rushy, selfcentered, acted as if they were better/smarter than the workers... lots of them act like that and then they get all hurt and offended when someone perceives their outlandish behavior as racist, if some of you would treat others how they want to be treated then maybe people would not mistake you for something that you are not.

Unless someone tells you, you cannot know what they were taught to believe about people of other races and cultures. I was talking to a woman in India who thought that white women walked around without clothes on, and that men could just grab them and have sex with them anywhere.

I worked with a man who married a Chinese woman, and when they brought her daughter to America, she had a terrible time assimilating our culture. She was taught to believe that all white girls were prostitutes, and that white people eat raw meat, worship death, and kill each other for fun. She was terrified to go to school. It took almost 2 years for her to make any friends at all, and she was suspicious all the time.

Also, you have to be careful speaking Spanish to every Latino. They have different dialects in different countries, and even different parts of the same country. You may think you said something "cute", but you may have insulted her. For instance, I worked with a man from one part of Mexico, and he told me that certain phrases in his town meant something entirely different in another region. So, "I am going to the store", in one place, means "I am going to get a prostitute" in another place. Unless you are fluent in the dialect of the region she comes from, I would advise against saying anything to her in Spanish, except for formalities.

I'm white and I had two black customers in my store standing side by side and there was only one car in the parking lot. Not to mention I didn't get many black customers in my store in the first place. My co worker was helping one and the other went up to me and asked for some help. I apologized because I thought they were together. He said "why cause were black". Another time a black guy came into my store and I greeted him like I have to do every customer and he yells at me "you think I'm gonna steal cause I'm black, you gonna follow me around the store"! All did was say Hello.

the only people who are racist, are the ones that let color define their choices. in my opinion I dont think that whites are exclustively racist or ignorant. I think it has to do with the individual. you speaking spanish to that girl if anything was showing respect that you would take upon your self to converse with a language i am sure that she is most comfortable with.

Hmmm. I guess I'd want to know what "cute" things you said to her. Sometimes - often when we speak in another language to a native speaker of that language - we speak as we would in our own mother tongue, not realizing that there are formalities to be respected when speaking in the other language.

Sorry you felt put off by that. Hopefully it was just a misunderstanding.

in case you've been putting forward with a tone of disgust, disapointment and so on then it extremely is elitist and racist. i bump into it curious that their ethnicity is what you spotted. i wager I do in simple terms not note dermis color, I in simple terms see people. Like, did you spot that the ratio of adult adult males to women individuals, little ones to adults? If no longer, why? Why are you larger observant about the people's ethnicity?
