Why do people play games?

Question

Is it for your NEED or for WANT, and why do we waste so much money on gaming when you there are nessecities we NEED but still waste money on gaming?
Example- WoW= a monthly fee. Is it worth it?

The reason varies from person to person, but it's for all the same reasons that people watch TV, Movies, read books, comics, listen to music, or partake in any other form of media.

Netflix is a monthly fee too, and plenty of people get it to watch lots of movies with. World of Warcraft may be just one game, but it's a very dynamic, changing game with lots of other players to meet & interact with.

People play video games because they're fun. To alter a quote from Apple Jacks commercials: "We play what we like."

I will never pay a monthly fee to play a game, but I play for the same reasons people read books. For the story.
Interactive story telling is much more fun than plain text.
Although I still read books, I am a more visually stimulated individual.

We play games because it lets us do things we might never get to do, like manage a pro football team, or beat your favorite or unfavored wrestler senseless. It doesn't stop there you can be a demon slayer, or even a demon, you can be a race car driver or a soldier in WWII. As for WoW, no its not worth a fee, try Final Fantasy XI that is the best MMORPG hands down.

Some people like video games. It gives some something to do or meet others (Xbox Live) and fun. I like them because it keeps me busy and gives me something fun to do that I like. I can't entertain myself easily. WoW, I don't like so I don't know. I have spent over 600 dollars on video games alone plus I have an Xbox 360, Xbox, PS2, Game cube, Sega Genesis, N64, PSP, GBA SP, and a DS. I still get bored sometimes.

i agree with the person above, most people just buy games like me, just to have fun, and most gamers are under 33, so they are still young inside and they just want to break away from the old grind and just play games because they are bored.
you know, not all of us like to go "clubbing" when we have nothing else to do.

and to answer your question, WoW IS worth it if you have the time and the money to play it.

i have a job, a fiance, and a future kid, and i play WoW when my day is done.

People just need fun in there life.when tehre bored they can play a game waiting for them like wow instead of searching 4 a game.If u dont wanna b board on a bored game and if your stressed or havin a bad day,play a cool game u like that u pay 4.On 1 of my questions it helps stress go away.TRY IT.works.

people play games for something to do or to just get away from tha world usually its because they feel that the character and themself become one and so they are the character in theyre own little world... n_n jk i dunno thats just my theory ha!
