well i got married 8 years ago and we broke up 7 and a half years ago and i haven't seen her since and since there are so many places to go for divorce and only need one name i dont know if she did that or not thats why i'm asking

Hmmmm... not sure if you got divorce papers......need more info. IF you are not the one who filed and youthink you know the town where a divorce was filed against you, you can call the supreme court ( they are the ones who handle divorces in most states) and find out there.
If you are the one who filed and you have a reference number from the court you can find out by calling also.

Sit by the door and see if a woman that you recognise walks through it. If you see nothing after a week, you're probably not married.

Ok, i'm not sure why you wouldnt know something like that, but go to the clerks office where you got your marriage liscence and they can look it up for you and tell you if you have a valid marriage or not.
