This is a poor question. If you have great ideas for songs - then jot them down on paper before they get sucked into some blackhole/abyss.
What I mean is....
There's no "correct" way for writing songs. It's not about the format, its about the impact and message you have to give.
Besides, you shouldn't be writing songs for anybody but yourself.
So don't worry about any kind of format, because they don't really exist.

Chelsey, that chick rock love does mot have a clue, format can definately add to a songs impact. This is a basic format
verse
refrain
chorus, after the 2nd chorus you can add a bridge. However I recorded a song on my last CD, where after the 2nd chorus, went guitar solo and came out of this fast paced progression into a slow bridge, chorus out.You can go verse, refrain then back to verse refrain and chorus. Somtimes you can use a double refrain. I am recording my 2nd CD right now and I have one song that goes verse, refrain, chorus and then chorus again with a slight variation on the instrumentation. The most important thing ( I think) is listen to the song as you write it, in it's own way it will talk back to you and tell you which direction it wants to go. I wish you the very best.

It relies upon on what style of song you prefer to place in writing. only like poetry. while you're finding to place in writing a pop song (and by ability of pop I mean widespread song, so pop, rock, hip-hop, usa, any of that), what Claire instructed you is right, besides the actuality which you're certainly welcome to test with it a sprint and not do it precisely that way. what's important is it incredibly is sounds good. while you're finding to place in writing yet another style of song, you will would desire to pass by ability of different rules. in case you are trying for Jazz or Classical song, it would in all risk be useful to learn some Musical thought. This does no longer harm for writing a pop song the two, besides the actuality that it incredibly is far less of a necessity.
