My 2 month old recently developed a rash on her face, chin, ears and there are some spots on her head too. The rash looks like little red bumps. I took her to the pedi and he said it was "baby acne". However, I've done some research and am finding it hard to believe since most sites say acne tends to come on around 3-4 weeks. She had no symptoms until she was 8 weeks. I was breastfeeding her exclusively until she was 6 weeks old, then transitioned her to gentlease formula for daytime feedings but switched to similac soy due to spit up and tummy problems after a week. She got this rash 5 days after starting the similac soy. I'm wondering if it's an allergy to the formula. Any thoughts/ideas?

It could be an allergic reaction, Did you tell you Dr that? I can't believe he just dismissed it with out discussion. I would try a different formula (gradual transition) and see if it resolves, if it doesn't talk to your Dr again. If it does switch Drs to someone who will listen to your concerns and try to solve issues.

My baby girl got baby acne starting at like 5 weeks and it stayed around until 9 weeks! Her face is just now looking clear and she is 10 weeks! I had my 6 week check up for my delivery with my midwife and i took my baby with me and showed her and she said it was definitely Baby Acne. It was like you said all over her head, neck, ears, face! It looked so sad to me! But it goes away! :) Use a cool wet washcloth on her face a few times a day and after your baby spits up or cries because that aggravates the acne.

i doubt it is b/c of the formula. i have a 7 week old, and he has baby acne and it didnt form until i think he was a little over 6 weeks. just b/c a website says 3-4 weeks, doesnt mean that once your baby is older than that, that they cant have that problem. it just gives an average. wash her face with a warm washcloth, and pat dry. it should go away soon. just dont put lotion or soap on it. good luck

Babies will spit up some of everything from time to time. But if there are stomach problems then I'd try another brand. Also, I have had experience with the water used to mix the formula with. You may want to try distilled or even the Nursey water you can pick up in any wal-mart or target store.

It could be an allergice reaction. Talk to your doctor.
My daughter is breastfed exclusively - and she had baby acne that came and went two times now. It's better to be on the safe side and ask the dr.
