of all the problems i have had in the past and with this pregnancy, i have an incompitant cervix which caused me to have my son who is now 18 months old and doing great at 30 weeks. i am 24 weeks now and i have a cerclage or stitch in my cervix on Friday when i went the ultrasound showed funneling again, which is what i did with my first pregnancy it just is the opening of the birth canal too soon, its not all the way open just starting obviously. anyway this is the exact same time that i started all this with my son and had to go on bed rest in the hospital for two months. i am just wondering how good are my chances of not haveing to go on bed rest because i have the cerclage, the Dr. said we arent in dangerous territory YET! he is doing another ultrasound in two weeks to double check. anyone kind of understand what i am saying and what advice would you give me???

I would say for you to stay calm, but having been there, I know it is not possible. I had a cerclage and for a while later was not on bed rest. This was due to a bicornuate uterus, not funneling. Since you had a baby at 30 weeks before, ask your Dr about steroid shots this time around. You can start them at 17-20 weeks and trust me the babies with them vs. without are like night and day in the NICU. I had my son at 30 weeks and he actually cried when born, was only on vent one day and all he had to really finish developing was his digestive system. He came home before his actual due date, and weighed in at 3lbs., 6oz.! That is big for a 30 weeker! Try to be off your feet as much as possible, and think positive thoughts. You are already at a viable, medical term that I hate, term, so relax and relish every day. The longer you can hang on to the pregnancy the better for your little one, but have faith! Also, I had so many ultrasounds by my own OB then by the paranatolgist that it did not affect the baby in any way. HE is healthy and I had an ultrasound at least once a week either checking baby or cervix, sometimes twice a week.

First off I commend you on the bravery of even being pregnant again they told my best friend to try to aviod further pregnancies as she has had similar complications with her baby boy ''due in august'' they wish for her to carry until at least june but the baby is big and very healthy I don't know the stats for the situation you are in but bringing this miracle into the world is very important to you evidently stay off of you're feet and try not to stress god bless you and baby!!

You should calm down and let nature take it's course. Forget about the ultrasound and then do it when you think your ready. Because it sounds like you are very nervous so take it easy! Good luck!:)
