It will cost you a lot more for a nanny since you would want to go through a service in order to get a reliable one with good references. Unless you already know of someone who has a home daycare, I would go with a nanny. As far as what the pay is for each, that will vary depending on where you live. A child care provider where I live (south US) averages about $100-$125/week per child. Hope this helps!

What everone seems to have missed is that a nanny is a qualified childcarer and it then goes back to the old adage of 'you get what you pay for'
Tasha is slightly misinformed in that most 'nannies' who have been charged with abuse were not actually qualified nannies.
Louise Woodward for example was an au-pair or a mothers help !
An english nanny in London would get around 400-500 pounds a week after tax which is around 800- 1000 dollars
Another altenative is a nanny share where you have two families employing one nanny and in effect halving the cost of childcare, lots of compromise though. Works well if both families live and work close by, good luck , it has to be one of the toughest tasks as a parent.Find someone both you and the baby like, have a trial period and don't be frightened of pointing out things you want doing and the way you want them done, a good nanny will be happy to keep you happy!

you should get a nanny if you want full time, but also set up cameras because nanny's are known more than babysitters to abuse children...
