The chances you can learn ASP.NET well enough to pass for skilled, in just one month, is slim. But Microsoft offers a number of options.

http://www.asp.net is Microsoft's ASP site, with tutorials, code, more.

And do us a favor: Don't listen to the type of people that call Microsoft names but don't bother providing constructive answers. Generally speaking, they don't know what they are talking about, period.

To me, the best approach to switch your domain to Dot Net is that you chose any of your PHP project. And start developing it into Dot Net. In this way, you will quickly be on the learning Path. You will learn new things as you continue developing other projects.

One other domain is Java.

How much are you prepared to spend in that month? Microsoft Visual Studio Standard 2005 (which you have to have to develop in .Net) alone will run you around $300. Also, you should remember that .Net is not a single language; .Net extends into four languages (VB.Net, C++, C#, and J#) out of the box, but there are third-party add-ons that allow you to write .Net code in PHP, Python, Perl, and other languages...

Yes you can learn a lot in one month. You need to learn the following:

1) Basics about the .NET framework
2) ASP.NET programming model and page life cycle
3) you will need to learn the syntax of a .NET programming language (preferable C# or VB.NET)
4) You will need to learn what server controls are, how to work with their properties & know how they render to HTML
5) How to work with Data oriented applications and use ADO.NET to access data sources

Those are the basics. I don't think you will have any trouble.

I suggest you go for APress & Wrox books. Microsoft press books are also very good.

Hope this helps.

Actually, even though it is old and supposedly not useful anymore ... perl. I get a lot of calls because I have perl on my resume. Also, if you know php you can learn perl. .net requires you to basically sell your soul to MS by using their poor web server, their development tools only run on windows, and it is not open source. while some companies are adopting it for their front end, there is much more code in use that is java/perl.

I'd say both. Why? because both programming languages are in-demand today. .NET and PHP work as strong foundation in building the website's back-end layout.
