wow! wha'ts up with Justin C and having his head up his butt! No, I'm sure this guy didn't personally take the Native Americans lands from them, but you know what? I've never had slaves or lived in a society where African Americans were segregated like in the 60's either but for some reason we're still hearing about that and how they should be compensated for "their" years in slavery. If "they" were slaves and we have to listen to it for the rest of our lives (they weren't, at least not the ones living now) then "we" did take the Native Americans land. we didn't do them any favors. we raped the land they lived on, killed the buffalo herds to near extinction, wiped out villages and families and then gave them unfertile, desolate desert land to live on and grow their crops on. that was nice of us, huh? taking someones land just because someone else was going to do anyway isn't a valid excuse, and saying they're alcoholic is on the same vein as saying African Americans are all dope and drug addicts/pushers. you'd do well to graduate from the 3rd grade before answering any more questions, Justin. We should compensate Native American tribes living on reservations and their children. they should get special consideration when applying to college or loans or housing and starting businesses (let me guess justin, they're opening casino's right???). We've done nothing but crap on them and it's too bad, we could have learned so much from them, starting with respecting our environment and the earth!

There are so many flaws in your few sentences that I don't know where to begin.
1.) "We" didn't take their land. The people that did are long dead. If YOU took anyone's land, I suggest you turn yourself in to the police.
2.) I've traveled extensively throughout the west. Most of it is desolate and barren. The Chihuahuan desert goes on for hundreds of miles without a single outpost. Is this the very land you think is so dear?
3.) Modern day Native Americans are much better off now than they would have been had their civilization stayed in control. If you think a unstable food source, medicine men, killing your handicapped and elderly and no reliable heat source is heaven on earth, then by all means stake out a place in the Great Basin (its up to you to find what part of the country this is) and live that way.
4.) The number one social problem in Native American communities is alcoholism. Since they pay no federal or state taxes; booze is pathetically cheap on reservations. You can get a 5th of vodka for 3$. This law is cause by people like you.
5.) Mexico and Canada did the same thing -and worse, to the Natives but facts like this are found in history books.
6.) Where have you been? Are you 12? The 'outrage' about how the natives were treated has been daily since the 1960's.
7.) Had the Europeans not taken this land, the Chinese and Japanese would have. Had they did, there would be no reservations or special rights. Just read up on how the Tibetan are being treated NOW.
I could go on but you are just going to make up reasons to discount rationality and logic in favor of emotionalism and subjectivity.

What year was that? Wouldn't that be considered history? Have we not learned from history what was wrong with that kind of treatment of other human beings? Hasn't Americas democratic government worked for equality for all? So is it a fair statement to call Americans terrorists? Is it not true that the real terrorists killed people of all ethnic groups just because they are Americans?
Have you ever heard of divide and conquer? This question sounds like it is trying to do just that. I am glad you called them Native, "Americans". As educated Americans they will not fall for this poor attempt to destroy America's democratic society. Many Native Americans are serving in the military and we are proud of all our military fighting terrorism.

People just don't care about us, mostly because they don't want to own up to what their ancestors did. We're still dealing with many of the aftereffects today, but those non-Native people with the luxury to ignore it say it's all "in the past." Did it ever occur to them that some people still have to live with the past?

I am appalled by it. It's strange that so many people seem to have forgotten all that happened.
This is one of the reason's I think its silly for us to make it so hard for people to legally immigrate to the U.S. We took the land away from it's rightful "owners" and now we won't even share it. It's so stupid.

some will say its in the past, and that happens. so when america is changed by language and culture again perhaps from latinos , americans will fully understand , call it normal, and go with it, based on that logic.
