I was listening to my radio on the way to work and this woman called in saying how she was turned down for a kids meal because she did not have a child with her. And I was surprised that so many other people called in saying they were turned down for the same reason, and not just one chain, but many. I eat ONLY kids meals when I go out to fast meal restaurants as a way of watching my portions and have never had a problem with it. Has anyone else?

I have never ordered from a kids menu at a sit down restaurant only at a fast food place.

Yes, it is silly! If I want to order a kids meal, I just go through the drive thru and there are no questions asked! But if I go in by myself and don't have a child with me at certain restaurants, they tell me you have to be under 12 to order from that menu. The portions in adult meals are so oversized these days....the kids meals are just right. Doesn't seem right they can tell us what we can and can't have! Crazy!!

I have never heard of anybody doing that to anybody.
I buy kids meals all the time - I had one today in fact - and yes, I, too, do it to watch portions. Or, Chick-Fil-A kids meals make really good snacks because if you get the 4-piece without a drink it's less than $2. And I give the toys all away to kids I know.

For the record, I've never had a problem with it at fancier restaurants, either. I eat kids meals every time I go to Famous Dave's and occationally when I go to Applebee's. I have never had anybody say anything about it.

I have never been asked to produce a kid to purcahse a kid's meal. I have only ordered them at fast food chains, like Mc Donald's and Burger King. I don't go to a sit down restaraunt and order from the kid's menu. I do, often in a hurry get "Happy Meal" or other such thing as it is just the right portion for me.

I have never been turned down for a kid's meal and I don't any children. I agree the portions are much better and the price is cheap! I have to admitt I have never had the nerve to order off the kid's menu at a sit down resturant like El Chico, Olive Garden, etc...

I order kids meals all the time thru the drive through. Alone or with my kids I have never had a problem. I did notice that Culvers is now offering a meal deal the same as the kids for the same price. I guess they got tired of us adults ordering kids meals.

I personally have never had this problem, but I know for a fact that all mcdonalds in Carson City Nevada will not serve happy meals to people when they're small children are not with them. So much for drive threw. Those mcdonalds also dont give happy meals out to children over the age of 9.

I haven't had this problem (yet) at a fast food place, only other dine in restaurants in my town. I go through the drive through a lot without my son and bring the meal home to him; I would be PI$$ED if they did this to me!!!

Yes many fast food joints do this to encourage people to order bigger, or more portions. The point is to get people to spend more money. They ordinarily focus on teenagers when they come in at lunch. The message?? Stop coming in at once or spend more money.
