There could be considered two starts to the series. The first book featuring Qwill and Koko was "The Cat Who Read Backwards" first published in 1966. Braun then wrote "The Cat Who Ate Danish Modern" and "The Cat Who Turned On and Off" and then stopped writing because the publisher told her that the books just weren't selling, people weren't interested in her kind of mysteries at the time.
But 20 years later, in 1986, the series really took off with "The Cat Who Saw Red" when Braun started writing again.

My favs in the series are "The Cat Who...
Saw Red"
Knew a Cardinal"
Blew the Whistle"
Wasn't There"

I really love this series. I've reread each book so many times I've lost count. I have to say though, the most recent ones, especially "The Cat Who Had 60 Whiskers" seems to show that Braun is losing her touch. "Had 60 Whiskers" was really bad and "Dropped a Bombshell" and "Went Bananas" weren't much better. The mysteries were practically nonexistant and the characters and storylines are fading fast. If the book are going to continue in this direction, I actually hope she just stops.
Up until "The Cat Who Talked Turkey" the mysteries were ok but fading, but the stories about what was going on in Pickax were still fun. Now, even the Pickax storyline is just lousy. I kind of hope these recent ones have been done by a Ghostwriter so Mrs. Braun can't be blamed for the unfortunately bad books.

I loved those books! The ones that come to mind were when Qwill got involved with antiques, when he first went to Pickax and lived in the cabin and when he converted the apple barn. It's been along time, my memory isn't sharp on the details, but her books hold a special place.

I didn't think I'd smile today, but I am!

here is a list in order. I love this site! I love all the beginning books, but feel the last 2 or 3 aren't as good. they don't have the same twist in the ending.
